Ever heard of the EPA “Portfolio Manager,” an online tool that allows businesses to track their energy use and carbon footprint in a realistic way? According to the EPA website detailing this service, collecting this information about your building performance is useful for a number of reasons. You can:
* Apply for the ENERGY STAR label
* Satisfy LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) requirements
* Support mortgage, sale, and/or lease transactions
* Document performance in energy service contracts
* Communicate energy performance with tenants/owner/customers
The most inaccessible part of using this tool? Perhaps it’s getting started! Or perhaps you’ve tried it out but don’t have the expertise to quickly navigate through the portfolio?
Sustainable Pittsburgh, a networking group in Pittsburgh committed to sustainable business practices, is offering two FREE sessions about what the portfolio does and how to use it most effectively.
